Mountain Go-karting on the Hochwurzen – approx. 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel

Pure adventure right on your doorstep! The 7 km nature trail down into the valley promises thrills for the whole family. Children from 1.45 m (min. 10 years old) can drive themselves, whilst younger children ride safely on their parents’ laps.

Free return trips on the mountain railways

At the summit of the Hochwurzen – accessible by gondola – the “4-Berge-Weitwanderweg” (section) is highly recommended, alongside the short and leisurely Bankerl Weg. A beautiful ridge walk with constant views of the Dachstein massif. Duration: approx. 3.5–4 hours. The route leads from the Hochwurzen via the Rossfeld to the Rohrmooser Frei and on towards Pichl. From there, you can take the hiking bus back to our hotel free of charge.

 

The Giglach Lakes Tour: a classic
Take the Hochwurzen gondola up, then hike across the Rossfeld and over the saddle to the Giglach Lakes. The return route usually takes you through the Preunegg Valley (free bus travel with the Summer Card). A high-alpine tour to two of the region’s most beautiful mountain lakes. Duration: approx. 5–6 hours (challenging).

On the Planai, the Planai High Trail (towards Höchstein) is absolutely stunning. From the Planai mountain station, head east towards the Krahbergzinken. The ascent to the Krahbergzinken (2,134 m) is far more exciting for adults than the circular route. The final section requires sure-footedness (a short section secured by ropes). You’ll be rewarded with one of the best summit views in the region. Duration: approx. 2.5–3 hours (there and back).

Free access to the Dachstein Glacier

Experience unforgettable moments against a high-alpine backdrop and enjoy the crystal-clear mountain air at over 2,700 metres above sea level. For stays of two nights or more, the ride on the spectacular panoramic gondola is included free of charge in your Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card and Autumn Card. However, particularly during the busy months of July and August, we strongly recommend that you book your gondola ride online in advance to secure your place for this highlight.
